3. Textured Red China Bowl (2008)

The bowl is a companion piece to Textured Red China Bowl (2008) illustrated on page 65 of John Parker CAUSE AND EFFECT.

The bowl was wheel thrown using a white firing clay and then turned to refine the piece when it had become dry leather hard.
The piece was then bisque fired to 1000°C and then spray-glazed shiny white and fired to 1220°C.
A matt white textured slip was applied and fired a third firing to 1150°C.
The piece was then glazed with a low temperature Cadmium-Selenium red glaze and fired a fourth time to 1060°C

The multiple glaze and slip technique has oblterated my name seal which was appled at the leather-hard clay stage.
